The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda
Size: 32,100ha
Ecosystems: There is an exceptional diversity of habitats on account of the range of altitude (1,190 to 2,560m), equatorial location and high rainfall. These cover the complete transition from lowland to montane forest, with some notable swamps and a small grove of bamboo at the highest elevations.
Animal Diversity:
- 120 species of mammals – one the most diverse parks in Africa
- 348 species of birds – one of few parks with over 600 species
- 220 species of butterflies
- Home to 400 Bwindi Gorilla’s, 50% of the world’s Gorilla population of endangered mountain Gorilla’s
Environmental Factors
- Preservation of endangered mountain Gorillas
- Working with local community to enhance agricultural returns and improve use of land.
- Contributing to UWA development plan and protection of endangerd species in the forest.
Getting There:
- 550km or 8 hours from Kampala by road
- Chartered flights from Entebbe to Kihihi (30km)
- Road transport through the forest (last 5km) to the site
Tourism Potential: Gorilla visits are one of the most sought after by Safari tourists.

The 40 acres (16.19 Hectares) concession lies on the Kazinga Channel between Lake George and Lake Edward.

Environmental Factors
- An Environmental Impact Assessment has been partially concluded to provide potential solutions to the encroaching sickle bush for certain areas in the park, however the assessment will be completed once a suitable investor/operator has been identified and a lodge development plan has been completed and submitted as part of the application.
